HAPPILY RETIRED!
Janice McCauley, Class of 1975

Happily retired two years ago from the USPS, I couldn't miss the joy in Janice McCauley's voice as she talked about her next chapter--being happily retired.

Highlight of Her Day
"The highlight of my day is gardening and coming home to my animals. I also love antiquing and finding treasures for my five antique booths at Kat's Antiques, by shopping at thrift stores and visiting yard sales. I love finding things I can resell. I take them home, clean them up and often repurpose them.

When I'm not antiquing or gardening, I'm enjoying all kinds of concerts, including tribute concerts. I'll be attending a Michael Jackson tribute concert soon. One of her favorite local bands is The Buzzard Band. "I love them...they play everything. I'm excited about them playing for Frankford's Class of 1975 50th Reunion October 25, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Brookside Manor. Editor's Note: You may want to attend even if it's not your reunion year. See info. on reunion page--more to come.

"I attended 15 concerts last year, and every Wednesday, I attend concerts at local venues with a group of girlfriends.

Biggest Adjustment?

My biggest adjustment was slowing down. I stay very busy. I try slowing myself down, but it's very difficult for me. I believe remaining active, slows down aging and keeps you healthy. I want to always be active.

Hobbies?
My home is like a big play house. I love decorating it for the holidays. I also like reading, gardening, visiting with friends and of course, attending concerts.

What Should You Do Before You Retire?

Pay off all your bills, especially your mortgage. Her biggest advice is: "Make sure you pay off your mortgage before you retire. Then, you can fully enjoy your retirement. Enjoying your retirement should be your number one goal.
